Port Townsend, Washington
A man died and a woman was injured in a single motorcycle wreck on Center Road at about 2 p.m. Monday.
The woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with unknown injuries, according to Bill Beezley, East Jefferson Fire Rescue spokesman.
Identification of the two people was not available Monday. East Jefferson Fire Rescue does not provide names of people hurt in wrecks, citing privacy concerns, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office did not have the names available Monday afternoon.
The road closed in both directions from about 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The motorcycle was traveling southbound when it struck a large bird in the 5000 block of Center Road before the intersection of Eaglemount Road and McMillan Road, Beezley said.
The motorcycle veered off the shoulder on the north side.
Firefighters attempted to revive the man but cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efforts were not successful, Beezley said.
When he arrived on the scene, the woman was unconscious, he said.
