New Albany, IN:16-Year old Brianna Negron killed and another injured after crash on Thursday, June 4 2015
Family members said Brianna Negron, 16, was a bubbly girl who had a bright future ahead of her.
Negron was killed Thursday night in a crash just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Charlestown Road and Kamer Miller Road in New Albany.
"I was having dinner and got a phone call that I didn’t recognize and that always scares me anyway," Negron's mother, Sheri Swan, said.
Brianna was flown to University Hospital, where she later died.
Brianna and her sister, Brittany Workman, 27, had been on their way home from dinner.
“They were inseparable, literally inseparable. Everywhere Brittany went, Brianna went,” Swan said.
Police said Workman was driving the car. She turned left into the path of a truck and her car was hit. The vehicles then crashed into a stopped car.
“She is devastated, definitely devastated. That was her best friend, not only her baby sister, but her best friend,” Swan said.
“(They were) just about a mile away and almost made it back,” Negron's brother, Brandon Swan, said. “(She) had a very bright future and a lot of potential and could have really made something very special out of herself.”
Negron was preparing for her junior year at New Albany High School, where she was recently accepted into the Thespian Troupe Society for her talents in theatre. Her real passion was astronomy.
“She wanted to be an astronomer she wanted to see the stars and now she is a star,” Sheri Swan said.
The family said the love and condolences of friends and family are getting them through the tough time. They've asked for people's support and prayers.
