Sacramento, CA : San Lorenzo man suspected in DUI crash that injured CHP officer on U.S. Highway 50 at 16th Street, May 7, 2016

A 41-year-old San Lorenzo man has been arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and possessing drugs in a collision Saturday afternoon in Sacramento that seriously injured a California Highway Patrol Officer.

Gregory Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail after he allegedly drove a big-rig into CHP Officer Vincent Smith at 3:30 p.m. on eastbound U.S. Highway 50 at 16th Street, CHP officials said.

Smith was in serious but stable condition Sunday at a hospital. He has been with the CHP for 18 years, according to CHP officials.
