WICHITA, KS : Attorneys hope 2021 motorcycle crash prompts changes in Wichita"s road closure process on Wednesday, 7th August 2024

A group of local attorneys is hoping the city of Wichita will make changes to its street closure process.

Dustin DeVaughn with DeVaughn James Injury Attorneys says when a business applies to close a street temporarily, the city leaves that responsibility on the business to conduct the street closure safely.

A case, involving what some call a 'hazardous situation', recently went before a jury.

"A jury returned a verdict in our client’s favor and determined his damages were 1.7 million dollars," Dustin DeVaughn said. "We tried to resolve it with the city. The city thought it was his fault and we had to take it to a jury trial."
