Multnomah County, OR : 17-year-old girl killed in a crash down embankment off Cornelius Pass Road on Wednesday, May 6, 2015
A 17-year-old girl died Wednesday morning when the car she was driving went off the road and crashed down an embankment, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said.
Kerrigan Clark of Scappoose was the only person in the car.
The crash was reported around 11 a.m. along Northwest Cornelius Pass Road, north of Northwest Skyline Boulevard.
Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Steve Alexander said someone flagged down a deputy after she saw smoke or dust coming up from the side of the road and stopped to check it out.
A Rainier Fire Department Battalion chief arrived to assist. The chief and the deputy found that a 2002 Ford Focus had gone off the road and about 75 feet down an embankment.
Clark's body has been turned over to the medical examiner.
Northwest Cornelius Road reopened just before 4 p.m. The investigation into the crash continues.
