Corunna, MI : Two killed, two critically injured in Shiawassee County crash on Wednesday, October 26, 2016
The Michigan State Police are investigating a deadly crash that killed two men and injured two others.
Michigan State Police Lt. David Kaiser said Christopher Allen Hopkins, 26, of Coleman, and Michael David Foster, 26, of Byron, were killed in the crash on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Kaiser said a 21-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were listed in critical condition.
Around 12:04 a.m., state troopers from the Flint Post, along with two officers from the Durand Police Department, responded to an injury crash that happened at the intersection of Byron and Miller roads in Burns Township, according to a news release from the Michigan State Police.
The two men were found dead at the scene. The injured woman and man were transported to Hurley Medical Center for further treatment. The woman was riding in the vehicle with the two men and the injured man was the driver of a second vehicle.
Kaiser said Foster was the at-fault driver in the crash.
The preliminary investigation showed Foster was driving east on Miller Road and disregarded a stop sign. He said that is when his vehicle broadsided the other vehicle that was traveling south on Byron Road.
The Michigan State Police crash reconstructionist was called to process the scene. The crash remains under investigation at this time. Kaiser said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Durand Police Department, Durand MMR, Perry Area EMS, and the Burns Township Fire Department.
