Stockton, CA : 27-year-old woman dies in solo car crash in north Stockton on Tuesday night, December 13, 2016
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a 27-year-old woman who was killed in a solo vehicle crash Tuesday night after being involved in two hit-and-run collisions in north Stockton.
The Highway Patrol dispatched officers on a report of a collision at 10:10 p.m. on West Lane north of Morada Lane. Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived to find a 2016 Honda that had collided with a power pole. The driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.
Investigators determined that the woman was involved in two separate hit-and-run collisions in the Fox Creek area of Stockton before the fatal crash occurred, the Highway Patrol said. Officers said the driver fled the scene of those collisions and sped north on West Lane at a high rate of speed.
The Highway Patrol said for unknown reasons the woman allowed the Honda to veer to the right and sideswipe a tree with the passenger side of the of the vehicle. The impact caused the Honda to rotate in a clockwise manner and roll onto the driver's side of the vehicle. The roof of the Honda then hit a power pole, crushing the roof into the passenger compartment, officers said.
The Highway Patrol said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. Investigators will await autopsy and toxicology results.
