Morganton ,NC :Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run Crash on Tuesday night ,September 8th 2015

A man was struck and killed by a car in a hit-and-run in Morganton Tuesday night, according to officials.

The accident happened just before 10 p.m. on W. Union Street near Sanford Drive, close to a McDonald's.

Witnesses say the man walked into the path of a car heading east on W. Union Street. The car drove another hundred yards and turned into a parking lot before going to check on the man, witnesses say.

The same witnesses told our Steve Ohnesorge that the driver got back in her car and drove off. Authorities found the woman nearby at her apartment, where she was talking to people about what to do. She admitted to hitting the man, officials say.

Officials say the woman is charged with driving without a license. They have not confirmed whether any other charges will be filed.
