Fredericksburg, VA : Woman died in a head-on crash in Orange County on Wednesday, August 16, 2017

A Locust Grove woman died in a head-on crash on State Route 20 in Orange County on Wednesday.

According to the Virginia State Police, shortly after 8:30 p.m. a southbound Honda SUV driven by Heather M. Berkery, 42, crossed the center line in the area of the Locust Grove Elementary School. The Honda struck a northbound Kia head-on.

Berkery, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. Two passengers, a man and woman, both 20, were riding with Berkery and were injured in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old Charlottesville woman, and a child in a child seat also were injured. All were taken to Mary Washington Hospital.

No details were available about the conditions of those injured in the crash.
