DURHAM, NC : 46-year-old man struck, killed by bus in Durham on July, Monday 3rd 2017
One man was killed Monday night after being struck by a Durham Area Transit Authority bus.
Authorities said the crash happened on South Roxboro Street and Enterprise Street around 9:45 p.m.
The bus, driven by Rita Jones, 44, of Raleigh, was making a left turn from the northbound lanes of South Roxboro Street onto Enterprise Street, according to Durham police. A man, identified as 46-year-old Aaron Christopher Ryle, of Durham, was walking across Enterprise Street when he was hit by the bus.
Ryle was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges have been filed.
Police said Jones has been driving with GoDurham for a year.
A man who witnessed the crash told WRAL News that the man was in the crosswalk, but he did not know if he had the right-of-way at the time of the crash. Police could not immediately confirm that information.
