Kaneohe, HI : Two people injured in a single-car crash in Waikane on Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Two people in their 50s were taken to the hospital following an overnight single-car crash in Waikane, according to the Honolulu Police Department. Police said at around midnight on Wednesday, the male driver of a Mercedes-Benz Sedan was heading northbound on Kamehameha Highway toward Kualoa when the car struck a pole near Waiahole Valley Road. Both the driver -- listed in serious condition -- and his female passenger -- listed in critical condition -- were taken to the Queen's Medical Center. Officers said drugs are alcohol did not appear to be factors, but believe speed may have been involved. There were no reports of any power outages, but police said Hawaiian Electric Company crews may need to assess the situation later in the day.
