GEORGE COUNTY, MS : Fatal crash on Highway 57 near Beatline Road in George County on Thursday, 16th August 2018

Thursday morning the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 57 near Beatline Road in George County. The accident happened around 7 a.m.

Responding troopers say a 2007 Pontiac G5 was traveling south on Highway 57 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and went off the left side of the road and crashed into a tree.

Troopers confirmed the driver of the vehicle was 17-year-old, Emma A. McDaniel.

McDaniel was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. McDaniel’s 11-year-old brother was the front passenger in the car and was life-flighted to the University of South Alabama Medical Center with serious injuries.

MHP says neither the driver nor passenger were wearing seatbelts.
