Warren, IN : Former Warren police officer suffers possible broken bones in two-car crash on Saturday October 22 2016

A former Warren police officer was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Mahoning Avenue near Maryland Street Northwest at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Timothy A. Brown, 59, of Warren, was traveling south on Mahoning when his car traveled left of center and collided with a car driven by Joseph J. D’Andrea III, 32, of Packard Street Northwest, Warren police said.

D’Andrea had “possible” injuries and had to be removed from his vehicle using a mechanical device. Brown also had to be removed with a mechanical device. Both were trapped in their cars.

Both cars had extensive front-end damage, and bystanders were breaking out the front-passenger window of Brown’s vehicle when officers arrived.

Two passengers in D’Andrea’s vehicle, Jordan Fisher, 14, of Geauga-Portage Easterly Road, West Farmington, and Shelby L. Boroughs, 24, of the Packard Street address, suffered nonincapacitating injuries, police said.

All four were taken by ambulance to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, though Brown was transferred to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Police were not able to interview Brown, but D’Andrea said there was a mailbox in the roadway in his lane, and he started to slow down, but Brown’s vehicle crossed over and hit him.
