A woman who was a passenger in the van involved in a high speed chase and crash spoke out to Local 6.Constance Harris said she blames 68-year-old Marice Thomas for the crash and putting her family in danger."He could have killed all of us. We all could have been dead," said Harris.Harris, who now wears an arm sling said she's still in shock about Saturday's high speed chase that turned into a serious crash."We was at a red light and the car came behind us and hit us from the back," she said.Harris said the impact sent her, her daughter and 6-year-old granddaughter flying from one side of the van to the other. That's when Harris said Thomas tried talking to the man who hit them, 52-year-old Tony Flounnoy."He got out of the car to try and talk to the guy, but he backed up and sped away. That's when Marice gave chase behind him," said Harris.911 Call: "He hit us from the back and I got kids in my car.Dispatch: "Do not follow the vehicle".Harris said her and her family tried pleading for Thomas to stop but nothing worked."He was cussing talking about I'm not going to stop, I'm going to get him, I'm going to get this guy."Thomas finally did, after police said he rammed Flounnoy's car that forced him to crash into concrete barriers surrounding a gas line, flipped his car and landed upside down."I'm just seeing a car flip over and I'm saying Oh God, I don't know if anybody was hurt, seriously hurt or what," said Harris.Flounnoy was taken to the hospital and is now paralyzed. It also turns out, that Harris knows Flounnoy quite well."He was my neighbor. I used to live next door to him. I pray that he can get better, that's all I can say," said Harris.No one else was seriously hurt.
