Annapolis, MD : One dead in collision near New Windsor on Tuesday, December 27th 2016
A Two-vehicle collision left one person dead and another injured Tuesday morning near New Windsor.
Carroll County Sheriff's deputies, fire and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene in the area of Md. 31 and Stone Chapel Road at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
A preliminary investigation by a crash reconstruction team revealed that a Chevrolet HHR crossed the center line, striking a Honda Odyssey van, according to the sheriff's office.
The 66-year-old male driver of the HHR was found to be unconscious and was transported to Carroll Hospital by EMS where he was pronounced deed, police said.
The driver of the Odyssey, a 46-year-old female, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where she was listed in stable condition, according to police.
Names of the individuals involved were not immediately released, pending notification of the families, police said.

Tuesday's crash was at least the 18th death on Carroll County roadways this year. There were 16 fatalities on Carroll roads in 2015 and 11 in 2014. On average, 16 traffic deaths per year occur in Carroll, according to data from 2010 through 2015 provided by the state Motor Vehicle Administration.
