Brevard County,FL: 1 dead, 1 critically injured after car crashes into ditch along I-95 on October, Friday 13th 2017
One person is dead and another is clinging to life after they were trapped upside-down under water Friday along Interstate 95 near Rockledge.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the car involved was traveling northbound on I-95 when it crashed into the ditch around 8 a.m.
A federal Fish and Wildlife Officer witnessed the crash and pulled one occupant out. A second occupant was able to get out on his own and a third person had to be extricated by first responders, troopers said.
While the side of the highway was generally dry, the car found the only spot where there was deep water and plunged right in, upside down, troopers said.
Troopers said the three people in the car are related, and were on their way to the airport in Orlando where one of them was set tto take a flight home to the Virgin Islands.
When the car left the road, a state fish and wildlife officer saw it, and jumped in, along with others.
