PLUM, PA : No charges expected in pedestrian’s death on Sunday, December 18th 2016
Authorities in western Pennsylvania say it’s unlikely that any charges will be filed in the death of a man hit by a vehicle in the Pittsburgh suburbs over the weekend.
Allegheny County officials said 57-year-old Samuel Fitzpatrick, of Penn Hills, was struck on the Golden Mile Highway in the Holiday Park section of Plum Borough at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
County police said Monday that Fitzpatrick “was staggering in the parking lot of a restaurant with a pizza in hand” and refused a ride from someone who stopped to ask if he was all right. Police said he then walked into the roadway without looking and was struck.
Police said Fitzpatrick was wearing dark clothing and wasn’t crossing at a crosswalk or traffic light, so charges are unlikely.
