Lenoir, NC : Teen killed in early morning head-on crash in Lenoir on Tuesday, August 12, 2014

A Hudson man was killed in an early morning crash in Lenoir on Tuesday. The incident happened around 5:19 a.m. on Ellerwood Road. Police say a 2003 Kia, being driven by 19-year-old Allen Paul Barnes, was traveling north when it crossed the center line within a curve and struck a 2004 GMC Envoy head-on. Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not said if Barnes' passenger and wife, Courtney Barnes, or the driver of the Envoy, Tammy Church Houck, were injured in the accident. Police said that based on the preliminary investigation it appears speed, road conditions and vehicle equipment of the Kia contributed to the crash.
