Snoqualmie, WA : One man dead and woman critically injured in crash in I-90 on Saturday afternoon August 8th 2015
State Patrol investigators now believe distracted driving was a factor in a deadly crash on I-90 Saturday afternoon that killed a man and critically injured a woman.
Troopers say a 20-year old driver from Medina was speeding over the 70 mph limit in the eastbound lanes near SR-18 when he veered out of his lane, eventually driving off the road and crashing into a Honda Civic, which had been stopped on the left shoulder of the freeway.
A 30-year-old man who was in the parked Civic and a 29-year-old woman who was struck while outside the car were both rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The man was later pronounced dead, while the woman remains in critical condition.
Witnesses told troopers that in addition to speeding, they saw the 20-year-old with a phone to his ear when the crash occurred.
That driver was not hurt, but has since been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault, troopers said.
