Jacksonville (Town),FL : Two traffic deaths in two hours on Jacksonville roads on June, Thursday 15th 2017

Hundreds of commuters on Interstate 95 filed past a grisly scene Thursday morning following a horrific accident in which a 45-year-old man was struck by as many as six vehicles.

It was the first of two traffic fatalities handled by local law enforcement on Jacksonville’s Northside early Thursday. In the second, a 56-year-old woman was hit as she walked in the street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the first incident occurred in the pre-dawn darkness just after 5 a.m. on northbound I-95 past the Dunn Avenue exit. The victim was hit by multiple trucks and cars within a short amount of time, Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Dylan Bryan said.

“It was five or six at least. We have two semis, a box truck and a car that stopped. Two of the trucks came back to the scene when they heard about it,” Bryan said. “A vehicle was traveling north as a pedestrian was in the center lane. We don’t know why he was in the road, or if he was trying to cross. He was wearing dark clothing.”
