Akron , OH : Car lost control on Kenwood Avenue in Akron and struck a home on Thursday morning, November 20th 2014
A car lost control on Kenwood Avenue in Akron and struck a home Thursday morning.
Two teenagers inside the car were shaken up, but not injured.
A woman who lives at the home was sitting on her couch right by the window where the Subaru Impreza came to a stop. She said the crash "sounded like an earthquake."
"I was scared to death... I really could have been hurt bad. I'm so relieved right now. I'm so relieved the boys are okay," Edgar said.
She believes that the icy conditions on the road caused the driver to lose control.
The car destroyed her concrete porch, ripped off some siding and took down a tree.
Lt. Rick Edwards confirmed the driver, 16, lost control on an icy patch, panicked and accelerated instead of braking before hitting the house.
The driver and his 17-year-old passenger were on their way to Firestone High School, according to police.
The driver was cited for failure to control and for not having a valid license.
