Morton, IL : Washington woman killed in A single-vehicle crash in Tazewell County on Wednesday evening, May 18, 2016

A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Washington woman Wednesday evening.

Tazewell County Coroner James Baldi said Renae L. Hanson, 34, was killed following an accident at the on-ramp from South Main Street onto Interstate 155 in Morton. She was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Her 3-year-old passenger was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria with non-life threatening injuries.

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the accident at 7:39 p.m. Wednesday. According to a release from the department, Hanson’s 2002 GMC Envoy struck the guardrail on the overpass, crossed over the lane of traffic and went off the roadway to the west. The vehicle continued to travel in the ditch until it rolled over once, ejecting Hanson who was not restrained, according to the release.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit, Morton Fire/Rescue and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate this crash.
