Lehi,UT : Three people dead and Two people injured in multi-car crash in Interstate 15 Lehi, on Tuesday night August 4th 2015.
Three people are dead after a multi-vehicle crash late Tuesday night on Interstate 15 in Lehi.The crash happened near the Utah-Salt Lake county line at 11:30 p.m. in the construction area at Point of the Mountain.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a Toyota van, a Ford pickup and a semitrailer were stopped in the construction zone when a 2009 Honda Accord struck the back of the Toyota van.
The collision pushed the Toyota van into the back of the Ford pickup, and the Honda continued forward into the back of the semitrailer.
Two of the victims, 16-year-old Keegan Colbree and 53-year-old Deeann Colbree, both from Layton, were passengers in the Toyota van. The third victim, 59-year-old Dale Orton, of Sandy, was the driver and only occupant of the Honda Accord.
Two additional occupants of the Toyota van, an adult male and a female juvenile, were taken to Mountain Point Medical Center in Lehi in critical condition.
Keegan Colbree was pronounced dead at the scene; Deeann Colbree was transferred to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, where she was pronounced dead. Orton was transferred to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, where he died.
The drivers from both the Ford pickup and semitrailer were uninjured.According to the UHP, seat belts were worn by all involved except the driver of the Honda Accord.
"We are looking into speed as a factor and reasons to why the driver of the 2009 Honda Accord failed to stop prior to hitting the other stopped vehicles," the Utah Highway Patrol said
