Clay County, MO : Driver dies from injuries after colliding with ambulance on 92 Highway at RA Highway on Wednesday, January 6, 2016

The driver of a vehicle that crashed into an ambulance in Clay County on Wednesday has died, officials said.

Three people were injured in the crash that occurred on 92 Highway at RA Highway, outside of Excelsior Springs city limits, around 8 a.m.

The driver, Teresa E. Howell, 38, of Excelsior Springs, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries where she later passed away. Two children, ages 5 and 6, were also injured and transported to the hospital with injuries, officials said.

According to the preliminarily investigation, Howell lost control of her 2003 Ford Focus and slid into the path of the ambulance.

There were no injuries reported on the ambulance, where EMS and two patients were inside.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating to find the exact cause of the collision. The ambulance was towed with extensive damage.
