Plant High student Amanda Pierce killed in car crash on Interstate 10

A Plant High School student has died after a car accident on Interstate 10.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Amanda Pierce swerved to avoid stopped traffic in front of her, causing the car to spin onto the shoulder of I-10. Her car then reportedly collided with a tree.

Pierce and her passenger, 18-year-old Taylor Lazzara, were taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Lazzara was treated and released.

The FHP says alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and both teens were wearing seatbelts.
