Brownsville,TX : Vehicle pursuit ends in accident on March, Tuesday 20th 2018
A vehicle pursuit that began near the Palmer Colonia south of San Benito ended in a crash into pallets behind Mr. G’s Fireworks that netted three arrests and the seizure of 73 pounds of marijuana.
The events unfolded after a Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputy observed a white Ford Focus fail to yield at a stop sign on FM732, Sheriff Omar Lucio said Wednesday.
The vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed and when the deputy activated emergency lights to signal a traffic stop, the Ford Focus accelerated to 80 mph, Lucio said.
After crashing into a stack of wood pallets behind the fireworks stand, Lucio said that Laura Elena Ramirez, 43, remained in the vehicle while Javier Rodriguez-Salazar, 30, and Jonathan Martinez-Rodriguez, 17, took off on foot.
Border Patrol agents and CameronCounty constables assisted sheriff’s deputies in apprehending the men, Lucio said.
