Odessa, TX : A 19-year-old Seminole woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday, June 7, 2017
A 19-year-old Seminole woman was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Gaines County and involved a motorist from Odessa, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported Thursday.
Cirilo Lugo Almaraz, 39, of Odessa, escaped injury during the collision that was reported at 5:38 p.m. and occurred on Highway 385, about 4.4 miles south of Seminole. Almaraz traveled with his passenger, identified as Lesa Elias, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the DPS reported.
The driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was stopped at the intersection County Road 320 and Highway 385 facing east at about the same time Almaraz was heading south in his 1999 Ford Explorer on the highway in the left lane, the DPS reported.
A commercial vehicle was also traveling south on Highway 385 and signaled to turn right and then west onto CR 320. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way at the stop sign at the intersection of CR 320 and Highway 385 and pulled through only to get struck by the moving Ford Explorer driven by Almaraz, the DPS reported.
The name of the driver behind the wheel of the Malibu was not released.
