A Citrus Springs man was killed Wednesday morning after driving his car into the path of another car in the Citrus Springs area.
At about 11:08 a.m., 87-year-old Robert Lynn Chandler was driving a 1997 Ford Escort south on U.S. 41 in the left-hand turn lane, approaching the intersection with North Citrus Springs Boulevard, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Jessica M. Pabon, 29, of Beverly Hills, and her 33-year-old passenger Anna M. Dillon, of Crystal River, were traveling north on U.S. 41 in a 2011 Kia Optima, approaching the same intersection.
Chandler turned left toward North Citrus Springs Boulevard, and into the path of Pabon’s car. The front bumper of Chandler’s car collided with the front bumper of Pabon’s car, causing both vehicles to rotate and come to rest in the northbound lanes of U.S. 41.
Chandler, who was wearing his seatbelt, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Pabon and Dillon were both taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center; Pabon with minor injuries, and Dillon with serious injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
