Lenexa,KS : Lenexa man, 89, killed Monday morning in rear-end crash on I-35 in Johnson County on August, Monday 14th 2017
An 89-year-old man was killed late Monday morning after the car he was driving hit the back of a dump truck on an interstate highway in Johnson County, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Wilfred B. Bennett, of Lenexa.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 11:15 a.m. Monday on northbound Interstate 35, just north of 87th Street in Lenexa.
The patrol said Bennett was driving a 2007 Buick LaCrosse when his car struck the rear of a 1995 Ford dump truck that had slowed for traffic.
Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the dump truck, Michael D. Owens, 47, of Kansas City, Kan., was reported uninjured. The patrol said Owens was wearing a seat belt
