ROCKFORD, IL : 2 people injured in southeast Rockford traffic crash on Thursday 25th October 2018

Two people were injured in a crash involving a car and an SUV Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Mulford and Newburg Roads, police said.

The accident victims were transported from the scene to a hospital. One of the injured individuals, described as a juvenile, is being treated for serious injuries.

Eastbound traffic on Newburg Road is shutdown at Phelps Avenue. Southbound traffic on Mulford Road is being diverted westbound onto Newburg Road.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area for the next several hours.
