One person was killed and two injured in an Friday morning crash in Desert Hot Springs, Riverside County firefighters said.
Just after 5:15 a.m., firefighters responded to of Palm Drive south of Camino Campanero, where two cars had collided, causing major damage. Desert Hot Springs police Chief Dale Mondary said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
One victim of the crash died at the scene. Police have yet to release this victim's identity.
Another two people who were trapped in the wreckage of the crash were extricated by rescue personnel and taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries and the other with moderate injuries. Both are expected to recover, Mondary said.
Palm Drive was closed in that area for several hours, but was reopened around 2 p.m.
