Gastonia, NC : Two killed in Kings Mountain wreck on Saturday, January, 6th 2018
Two people were killed in a wreck in Kings Mountain early Saturday evening.
The two-car collision occurred around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of South Battleground Avenue and Bethlehem Road.
According to First Sgt. J.E. Dowdle with the N.C. Highway Patrol, preliminary investigation suggests that a vehicle carrying five passengers was traveling north on South Battleground Avenue when a car traveling on Bethlehem Road pulled into the vehicle’s path, and they collided.
Two people in the vehicle traveling on South Battleground Avenue were confirmed as fatalities on the scene. As of 6:20 p.m., the status of the other three passengers was not known.
“There’s three other people that were in that vehicle that were transported to the hospital,” Dowdle said. “Right now, I don’t know anything on their status.”
Three passengers were in the car traveling on Bethlehem Road, and no injuries were reported from that vehicle.
A portion of both South Battleground Avenue and Bethlehem Road were closed as the investigation took place.
