Belmont , NC : 72 - years old woman injured in fatal car accident after lost of her Control near mile marker 25 on Sunday morning , January 11h 2015

Car accident from Sunday morning.
The driver, Margaret Lee Lumsden, 72, of Charlotte, was driving on Interstate 85 south through Belmont around 9:38 a.m.

Officials said the initial investigation showed Lumsden lost control of her car near mile marker 25.

When the vehicle left the highway it went airborne and hit a tree, police said. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed upon impact.

Lumsden was pronounced dead at the scene. Medical issues appear to be contributing factors.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation
