South Jacksonville, IL : Police officer killed after car and an ambulance collided Sunday March 6 2016

A funeral will be Wednesday for a central Illinois police officer who was killed when his squad car and an ambulance collided while both responding to a traffic accident.
A visitation for South Jacksonville village police officer Scot Fitzgerald will be Tuesday at the First Christian Church in South Jacksonville. His funeral will be Wednesday at the church followed by burial at Murrayville City Cemetery.
Officials say Fitzgerald was responding to a call around 9 p.m. Friday on state Route 267 and made a U-turn while trying to find the accident site. While making the turn, his car struck an ambulance responding to the same emergency. Three people in the ambulance were hurt.
Fitzgerald was a married father of a 4-year-old boy and a 4-month-old girl.
