Iron River, WI: 3 injured in Iron River crash on Thursday, July 30th 2015
Three people were injured Thursday in a collision between a pickup and a wood-pulp truck in Iron River, Wis., authorities said.The Iron River Police Department reported that the crash occurred just after 1:30 p.m. along U.S. Highway 2 near Wayside Road.Officials said Sue Beard, 67, of Wyoming, Ohio, was westbound on U.S. Highway 2 near Wayside Road when her 2003 Toyota Tundra crossed the centerline and struck the pulp truck, driven by David R. Bouillion of Hurley. The pickup went under the rig's rear tires and spun into a ditch, according to the report.Beard and her passenger, 90-year-old Robert Strom, also of Ohio, were extracted from their vehicle with the "Jaws of Life." Using U.S. Highway 2 as a landing zone, North Memorial Helicopter Service airlifted Strom to St. Luke's hospital in Duluth.Police said Beard was taken to the hospital by ambulance, while Bouillion was able to walk from his truck and was transported to a local facility with non-life-threatening injuries.Iron River police did not know the severity of Strom and Beard's injuries Tuesday evening. St. Luke's would not provide condition reports or even confirm if they were patients there.
