Derry, NH : Pedestrian hurt in hit-and-run crash in Derry on Thursday November 5 2015

Police are continuing to search for a driver who hit a man walking his dog Thursday in Derry and then drove off.Joe Mangano said he was thrown several feet when he was hit by the car Thursday evening.
There's no way in the world that they could not have known they hit something, whether it was me, a bush, a moose, a deer -- who knows -- but there was an impact," Mangano said.
Mangano is walking with a limp and said he's in pain after being thrown more than 10 feet into the woods along Chester Road. Witnesses told police the driver slowed down, but never stopped.
I didn't even see it," Mangano said. "It came up from behind me, so I have no idea."
Police said there should be evidence on the vehicle of what happened.
There's a vehicle out there that is going to show the signs of that impact," Capt. Vern Thomas said.
The SUV involved in the crash was described as dark in color. Police said it should have damage on the right front fender and possibly the bumper and mirror.
Neighbors said they saw the aftermath of the crash -- police lights and a closed road -- but they didn't realize it was a hit-and-run until later. They said Chester Road is highly traveled, and it can be a risky place to walk.
My own dogs, when we walk them, we never walk them there," resident Thomas Veaudry said. "We take them somewhere else, because ignoring the fact that people drive fast, there's not much space to walk anyway."
Mangano said he was about 200 yards from his street when the hit-and-run happened, and police said several people stopped to help.
