Tavares, FL : Eustis driver killed in collision with telephone pole near Lake Saunders Drive and Dora Avenue on Monday afternoon, Aug 3, 2015

Troopers have identified the Eustis man killed Monday afternoon when his car struck a telephone pole.

The 58-year-old man, Paul Thomas, hit the pole in Eustis near Lake Saunders Drive and Dora Avenue around 12:25 p.m. after he had a possible medical episode, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Montes said the man was taken to Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares, where he died.

His car, a 2002 Ford, had only minor damage.

The crash remains under investigation.
