Lehigh Acres , FL : 26 - Years old woman seriously injured after crashing while attempting to leave the scene of a hit and run crash along Avi Road on Monday , March 9th 2015
A woman was seriously injured after crashing while attempting to leave the scene of a hit and run crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
It all started Monday just before 6:30 p.m. Troopers say a Chevy car was involved in a hit and run crash on Alvin Road near Butte Street.
The vehicle reportedly left the scene and did not provide information to the driver of the other vehicle. That driver then began to chase the Chevy.
While attempting to get away, troopers say the Chevy failed to negotiate a curve -- causing the driver to hit a traffic sign, then a mailbox and culvert before flipping and crashing into a fence.
The driver, 26-year-old Lacy Amber James, of Fort Myers, was ejected from the vehicle, troopers say. She was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital via med flight.
FHP says the crash was alcohol related. Charges are pending.
