MONITEAU COUNTY, MO : Mid-Missouri teenager dies after head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver on Friday, 19th April 2024

A teenager has died, and two other people have been injured after a head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver on Friday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, around 6 p.m., a Chevrolet 2500, driven by a 19-year-old male, was going westbound in the east lanes of U.S. Highway 50 near Route BB.

The crash happened when the Chevrolet crashed head-on into a Dodge 2500, driven by a 43-year-old man. The crash caused the Chevrolet’s cab to separate from the chassis and overturn.

The 19-year-old and his female passenger, 19-year-old Lily Petree of Tipton, Missouri, were thrown from the truck. Petree died at the scene. The driver was taken to a hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. The driver of the other truck had moderate injuries.
