CHURZ, NV : Man killed in fiery US 95 crash in Nevada was Guatemalan on Monday 29th October 2018
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the Jeep driver who died in a fiery crash on U.S. Highway 95 near Schurz in Mineral County last week as a resident of Guatemala.
Esdras Ontoniel Canastuj-Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene before 7 a.m. Friday after his Jeep Wrangler towing an SUV hit an oncoming semi-truck, went down an embankment and burst into flames.
The patrol said Tuesday Conastuj-Ramirez was headed northbound on U.S. 95 toward Schurz about 35 miles (56 kilometers) south of Fallon when the driver of the northbound Volvo truck tractor allowed the truck to travel over the centerline and entered the southbound travel line.
Conastuj-Ramirez steered to avoid a collision but the truck hit the front of the Jeep.
No one else was hurt. The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
