Fillmore, CA : Sheriff’s deputy injured in motorcycle crash near South Sespe Street and Bardsdale Avenue on Friday, June 10, 2016

A Ventura County sheriff's deputy was injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle Friday near Fillmore, officials said.

The crash was reported between a Ventura County Sheriff's Office motorcycle and a vehicle about 5:30 p.m. near South Sespe Street and Bardsdale Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A helicopter was sent to the scene in the Bardsdale community to take the deputy to Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura.

Sheriff's Capt. Bill Schierman said the deputy was conscious when he was transported and did not have any significant injuries. The deputy, who was working out of the Thousand Oaks station, was admitted to the hospital overnight as a precaution, Schierman said.

The Ventura County and Fillmore fire departments responded.
