One woman was killed and another person injured in a two-vehicle crash that closed all lanes of U.S. 60 eastbound at Stapley Drive in Mesa during the morning commute, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said Tuesday morning.

The investigation wrapped up and all lanes reopened at 10:25 a.m.

DPS Trooper Tim Case said the victim is Dr. Cynthia Goralnik, who was 61 years old. She was the driver of a BMW that was rear-ended by an SUV. The driver of the SUV was injured and rushed to the hospital. That person's name and condition haven't been released.

"It was single drivers in both vehicles," Case said.

A DPS helicopter landed on the highway to drop off an investigator and accident scene photographer.

Pictures from our news helicopter showed a massive traffic jam.

Traffic was directed to the Stapley exit, ADOT said. The Stapley entrance ramp was also closed.
