An 8-year-old girl suffered major injuries Sunday night after being struck by a car while walking with her mother in the crosswalk at the intersection of Ventura and First streets in southeast Fresno, police said.
Fresno police Sgt. Mike Smith said the child was dragged 100-150 feet by an older, rounded minivan, possibly gray or green in color. She was rushed to Children's Hospital Central California with severe road rash and likely several broken bones, Smith said.
The minivan was last seen traveling east on Ventura Street just after 8 p.m. Police were searching for the vehicle and interviewing witnesses Sunday night.
