Patchogue ,NY :one injured and another man arrested stole tractor-trailerand crashed while fleeing on Wednesday ,September 2nd 2015
Police say a man faces charges for stealing a tractor-trailer after fleeing an earlier collision on the Long Island Expressway.
The first crash happened near Holtsville shortly before midnight Wednesday. Police say the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Jonathan Moore of Westbury, ran from the scene.
They say an unidentified witness was struck by another vehicle as he chased Moore on foot. That man suffered a serious leg injury.
Moore then allegedly stole a tractor-trailer, crashed through a fence and drove to Route 112 in Patchogue. Police say he abandoned the tractor-trailer and then tried to steal keys from a car dealership.
He's been arrested on charges including grand larceny, DWI and burglary.
