LINCOLN COUNTY, NM : One person is dead after a crash in Lincoln County on Saturday, August 12, 2017
One person is dead after a crash in Lincoln County on U.S. Highway 51, according to the sheriff's department.
Authorities said the crash happened in the Town of Scott, early Saturday morning. A wrong way driver hit a bus traveling north.
The driver of the car, a 26-year-old Wausau man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus was carrying 29 people from the Rhinelander area, returning from the Milwaukee Brewers game.
No one was seriously hurt on the bus, according to the sheriff's department.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation said U.S. Hwy 51 was closed for more than five hours. It is not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The sheriff's department said this is the second fatal motor vehicle crash in Lincoln County this year.
The crash is still under investigation.
