Rio Rancho, NM : Rio Rancho police officer dies in single-vehicle crash on October 26, 2014

Rio Rancho police say one of their officers has died after a single-vehicle crash. Police Chief Michael Geier says Officer Anthony Haase was on his way to an assault in progress at a home early Sunday morning when his vehicle crashed near Idalia Road and State Road 528. Investigators have not released details about the crash, which is still under investigation. Rio Rancho Mayor Greggory Hull called Haase's death "deeply saddening" and asked the community to keep Haase's family in their thoughts and prayers.
