BIRMINGHAM, AL : Birmingham man killed in reported assault on Sunday, 24th December 2023

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation after a man was killed during a reported assault early Sunday morning.According to BPD, David Nicholas, 43, of Birmingham sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault in the 1400 block of Lake Lane Northeast. He was pronounced dead at 12:53 a.m.

Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was assaulted at a residence in the 1400 block of Lake Lane Northeast. The victim was able to flee the residence and seek help. Authorities say the incident is not random. Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
