Mount Clemens, MI : Imlay City woman died in Bruce Township crash on Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Michigan State Police continue to investigate a two-vehicle crash in Bruce Township that killed an Imlay City woman Wednesday.

The 57-year-old victim was driving south on Van Dyke Avenue when a northbound 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer crossed the center line as the northbound lane begins to curve east, just south of 34 Mile Road, and struck her 2000 Chevrolet Blazer head on at approximately 4:35 p.m., police said.

The Imlay City woman, whose name was not immediately revealed by police, died at the scene. The driver of the Blazer suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Both motorists were traveling alone, and both were wearing seat belts, State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said. Officials did not release any identifying information about the driver of the Trailblazer.

Alcohol use did not appear to be a factor in the incident, police said.

Van Dyke was closed at 34 Mile Road for approximately six hours as accident investigators studied the scene and gathered evidence.

State Police officials said results of the investigation, when completed, will be presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for review of potential criminal charges.
