Vicksburg, MS : One killed, four injured in a 2-car crash on Highway 27 south on Thursday night, July 7, 2016

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle accident just before 10 p.m. Thursday night on Highway 27 south. The wreck involved a Pontiac Bonneville and a Chevrolet Malibu.

The Pontiac was traveling south on 27 when the driver crossed over in the northbound lane and struck the Chevrolet that was traveling northbound . After impact the Pontiac left the roadway and overturned several times.

There were three people in the vehicle. The rear passenger, identified as 31-year-old Marquita Scott, was ejected and killed on scene. The other two passengers were taken to Merit Health with injuries.

The two occupants of the Malibu were also taken to Merit Health (River Regions).

The accident is under investigation.
