NEWTOWN, CT : Police identify victim of fatal I-84 crash in Newtown on Wednesday, 26th February, 2020

Police identified the victim of Wednesday’s fatal crash on Interstate 84 as a 69-year-old Massachusetts man Thursday morning.
Harold W. Gilligan was killed after the 2011 Infiniti sedan he was driving left the eastbound lane and went off the highway on the right near Exit 10, traveling into a wooded area around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
It was the second fatal crash on Newtown’s stretch of I-84 this year. Last month, a 17-year-old from Danbury was killed after the car he was driving left the highway and crashed between westbound Exits 8 and 9.
Gilligan’s car sustained “disabling damage,” state police said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
